Specs at a Glance

We have reviewed and made price comparisons on these two great trucks, the Silverado HD and the LTD. To make it as easy as possible for you to decide, we will give you the bottom line of this article after presenting all the essential info about the trucks in a quick and accessible format.

Performance

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado HD brings a number of new powertrains to the table, including a 6.6-liter diesel V8 engine equipped with a new exhaust brake. The gas-powered 6.6-liter V8 engine boasts 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. It's paired to either a six-speed automatic transmission or a 10-speed automatic transmission for an EPA fuel economy rating of 16/20 mpg city/highway.

The diesel powertrain is a 6.6-liter Duramax V8 turbodiesel engine with an output of 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque, which is sure to have plenty of torque available at low RPMs (revolutions per minute). It's paired to an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission, and it gets an EPA fuel economy rating of 22/25 mpg city/highway.

Appearance

The crew cab is the most popular pickup seller, so we've focused on this body style and a more-modern looking truck with a shorter cargo bed. The HD is longer than the standard Silverado by about 6 inches and has a higher ride height with its whopping maximum towing capacity of 36,000 pounds. It's also much bigger than the F-Series, which only measures about 12 feet long. That said, both trucks offer four doors and can fit up to six passengers, depending on the overall length of the bed. But that's not to say the HD looks tiny compared to the LTD's massive dimensions. The big Ford stretches 19 feet long, and its Super Duty cabin is more significant than some apartments. It has more rear legroom than even a Buick Encore GX SUV. The body is also taller and broader than the Silverado HD's.

Features

The Silverado HD is the heaviest-duty pickup truck in the Chevrolet lineup. It's part of Chevrolet's full-size truck family, including the smaller, lighter-duty Silverado 1500. The 2022 model comes in three trim levels: Work Truck, LT, and LTZ. A much more luxurious edition, the High Country, is also available. The most expensive and highest-trim version is the High Country Limited Edition (LTD). This version has additional features not found on lesser HD models.

The Silverado HD and the Chevy Silverado LTD are big, full-size pickup trucks. However, there are several features and different characteristics between them, which we discussed in this article. It all comes down to your preferences. If you're interested in one of these models, drop by our dealership for a test drive to see which model suits you best.
