2019 Malibu Trims & Features Lineup

The Malibu is big on choice, with five trim models from which to choose: the L, LS, RS, LT, and Premier. There's also a Malibu Hybrid trim, which is equipped similarly to the LT but adds a hybrid powertrain to help you conserve fuel. Here's a look at some of the feature highlights each trim has to offer.

The entry-level Malibu is the L, which gives you an impressive range of comfort and convenience features at an excellent price. These include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, smartphone integration features that display apps like Phone and Music on the Malibu 8-inch touchscreen. Now you can use your phone without having to look away from the road. The Malibu L also comes standard with OnStar, emergency telematics equipment designed to help you solve unexpected problems, sending help after a car accident or unexpected breakdown.

The LS is a bit more tech-savvy. Its standard Teen Driver system is a boon for parents. Use it to set curfew limits or geofence boundaries. The LS OnStar system is also equipped with a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot to keep younger passengers busy on long trips.

If you want a Malibu with sporty style, check out the RS. It features a number of unique flourishes, including black 18-inch alloy wheels and blacked-out exterior trim pieces. The RS also increases on-road athleticism, courtesy of its dual exhaust tips and rear spoiler.

The Malibu LT starts with the LS equipment and adds a number of modern performance features. That means daytime LED running lights and tail lamps. It also means remote start and heated mirrors. Inside, the LT increases comfort with heated front seats and dual-zone climate control.

Finally, the top-trim Malibu Premier piles on the luxury. It comes standard with leather upholstery and adds heated outboard rear seats. In addition to being heated, the front seats are ventilated to cool you off in the summertime.

The base engine is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The L, LS, RS, and LT trims come standard with this engine. For a little extra kick, choose the Malibu Premier. This top-of-the-line trim comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers impressive speed, compliments of its 250 horses and 260 pound-feet of torque. To earn up to an estimated 49 city/43 highway mpg, choose the Malibu Hybrid. Its 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine works with an electric motor to create 182 horses and 277 pound-feet of torque.
