Ahead of this year's “legendary DAYTONA 500 race,” Chevrolet unveiled its latest Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype. While this cutting-edge concept didn't take to the track, it offered a glimpse of tomorrow's electric race cars. Below are the standout features of the Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype.
High-Performance Electric Powertrain
Replacing the customary V8, the Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype is driven by a pure electric powertrain. Its three six-phase motors churn out roughly 1,300 horsepower and spin as high as 15,000 rpm.
Power flows through a programmable all-wheel drive setup, enabling exact torque delivery to each wheel. It is built on a modified Next Gen chassis and boasts race-tuned suspension elements and Goodyear Racing Eagle tires.
True Race Car Styling
Though its design takes cues from the “road-going Chevrolet Blazer SS EV,” the EV.R's aggressive styling is unmistakable. Engineers sculpted the body for optimal aerodynamics: a wide-body kit and tall rear wing lend a fierce NASCAR look. Its ultra-low ride height helps keep it planted through sharp turns.
Motorsports Innovation
With the EV.R NASCAR Prototype, Chevy experiments with new technologies destined for future racing programs and production models.
