Holy flaming rocket boosters, Batman! Chevy’s latest creation pays tribute to the Caped Crusader and his criminal-chasing supercar. Built almost completely from LEGO bricks, the life-size LEGO Batmobile is inspired by the one featured in the new flick “The LEGO Batman Movie.”
The Inspiration Behind the LEGO Batmobile
Chevy’s LEGO Batmobile is a dream come true for comic book nerds and LEGO fans alike. Born out of a partnership with Warner Bros., the automaker also recruited professional LEGO Master Builders to assist in creating this super-powered car.

“To work on the LEGO® Batmobile with Warner Bros. is an absolute thrill for us at Chevy,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “Many of the themes in ‘The LEGO® Batman Movie,’ like imagination, family and community, align perfectly with our Chevy brand values and add to the value of the partnership.”
The Batmobile Building Process
After 344,187 LEGO bricks and 2,055 hours of work—including 222 design hours— the beastly Batmobile was finally finished. Coming in 204 inches long, 111 inches wide and 83 inches high, the supercar is quite intimidating—it’s both taller and wider than the Silverado HD. However, despite its massive size, the cruiser only weighs 1,695.5 lbs., which is quite aerodynamic for a vehicle of its stature.
In addition to building a physical Batmobile, the automaker also tapped into its creative resources to imagine what sort of cool crime-fighting features this supercar would have. Aside from being equipped with a 20,000-horsepower 60.2-liter V100 powerplant, the LEGO Batmobile would feature a flaming rocket booster, front-mounted stud shooters, bulletproof glass, roof ejection, an X-ray vision camera, automatic nerd alert and a side batwing conversion.
