2018 Equinox Diesel to Reach Up to 39 MPG Highway

2018 Equinox Diesel

?It’s official: the Equinox Diesel’s fuel economy numbers are finally in! Set to make its debut in dealerships within the next few weeks, the turbo-diesel crossover will achieve an EPA-estimated 28 city/39 highway mpg on FWD models, resulting in an impressive 577-mile range.

The Equinox is the second model to add a diesel variant to its lineup this year, following in the Cruze’s footsteps. Both share the same 1.6-liter turbo-diesel engine, which was designed in-house at General Motors. With over 24,000 hours of computational analysis and 4.35 million miles of testing performed on the engine, consumers can feel confident in its performance.

“Chevrolet continues to lead with technologies that offer customers more choice,” said Steve Majoros, marketing director for Cars and Crossovers. “Our three-engine turbo-charged Equinox lineup means we can provide drivers more options for the performance and efficiency they desire.”

So, how does the Equinox Diesel stack up to the competition? So far, its slated to be one of the most fuel-efficient engines in its class. In fact, drivers will see better real-world highway MPG on the Equinox Diesel than on popular alternatives like the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and Nissan Rogue Hybrid. Plus, the Equinox Diesel has the added benefit of low-end torque.

“It is very fun to drive, with torque on demand at all speeds,” said Dan Nicholson, vice president of Global Propulsion Systems. “In fact, the engine delivers 90 percent of peak torque between 1,500 and 3,250 rpm. The strong torque provides the feeling of a larger engine, with exceptional smoothness and quietness.”

The 2018 Equinox Diesel will go on sale in Lincoln later this fall. Contact us online now if you’d like to be notified when it becomes available!
